Cosmopolitanism and strong non-discrimination traditions.
Preferences for certain countries of origin over brands.
The market is open to products from unusual or what others may deem even exotic sources.
Russians are generally cosmopolitan, receptive to new ideas and products. Being Europeans brought up in a very liberal, open minded tradition and not being culturally conditioned to dislike foreign things, unlike many Scandinavians and most Americans they do not discriminate against ideas or individuals they might find strange. As a rule they do not discriminate against other human beings (notable cases of imported American strain of racism are an exception). Russian language does not even have own words for racism or discrimination or even "a skinhead."That means that people and companies from certain countries (as from many parts of the Middle East) which might have difficult time with doing business in, let's say the USA, for the reason of outright discrimination, visa rejections, hostility, religious and racial intolerance, official sabotage, would have no difficulty in selling their products or establishing subsidiaries in Russia. Russian authorities treat everyone equally, hence a national of Syria, Egypt or Iran would not be treated worse in Russia than an American or Icelander, and many Russians would give their preference to products from countries they perceive as non-hostile and friendly. On the other hand,
variety of reasons an unstable currency to begin with, is being driven out of use in a trend christened de-dollarization. When inflation is taken into the account, US dollar lost one half of its value in the last 3 years vis-à-vis Russian rouble. Currency risk in today's Russia is almost non-existent and economic fundamentals are strong. Steady surpluses
Russia enjoys steady budgetary and foreign trade surpluses and runs a positive foreign account balance.
